Interface and E-Lit
First off, I think it is important to say that I am absolutely blown away by both My Body, and Depression Quest. I don't think I have every interacted with websites quite like this. Depression Quest is an interactive narrative-driven game that explores the experience of living with depression. The way the game uses its interface—both visual and interactive elements—directly contributes to its thematic focus on mental illness, especially how depression can shape one's perception of the world and decisions. "My Body: A Wunderkammer" by Stephanie Strickland is an interactive e-literature piece that explores themes of the body, identity, and the interconnectedness of physical and digital experiences. The interface of the work plays a key role in conveying its themes, using the digital space to create an immersive, fragmented experience that reflects the disintegration and reassembly of the body and self.
Both of these interfaces are pretty minimalist and extremely interactive despite their simple appearances. Drucker mentions towards the backend of Chapter 10 that designing these interfaces is often sketched out before being created. I think these ideas are applied to both of these websites but especially My Body as much of the structure of the websites aesthetics are actually works of art depicting parts of Stricklands body. Both Depression Quest and My Body: A Wunderkammer are examples of electronic literature because they use digital platforms and interactive elements to tell stories and explore themes in ways that traditional literature cannot. Its not just a wikipedia with interactive links, I think its important that there is a story to be followed in both of these pieces.
For my own Web presentation I think there are a few important factors I will borrow from these sources., For one, the minimalist design. I am a sucker for simple designs done effectively. Keep it clean but also effective enough stylistically to get your point across. Depending on the nature of the presentation, I would integrate interactive elements such as clickable images, or expandable sections, to encourage user engagement. If possible, I'd also love incorporating multimedia elements like videos, images, and audio to the presentation. These elements should serve the content and not distract from it, but they can provide dynamic and engaging ways to present information.
I agree with the minimal design interface I also don't want my project to be too overwhelming. I plan to use Wix for my website which I will be able to control what is added and removed to make the design exactly how I want it. I also want to include multimedia for example pictures of past assignments and also of me and my life since the website needs to be about ourselves. I also want interactive elements, so viewers of my page are entertained.
